A unique opportunity for people working and volunteering with community organisations to attend a two day workshop on 8 and 9 March 2012 at Green Park, Reading led by Cormac Russell of Nurture Development and the Asset-Based Community Development Institute.

Building on the skills of local residents, the power of local associations, and the supportivefunctions of local institutions, asset-based community development draws upon existing community strengths to build stronger, more sustainable communities for the future.

When you attend this ABCD event you will find out how you can take actions to put people first in community development including;

  • Recognise the difference between traditional approaches to community development problems and the ABCD approach
  • Explore how to identify and map of Community Assets including:
    • The skills of local residents
    • The power of local associations
    • The resources of public, private and third sector organisations
    • The physical and econmic resources of local places
  • Understand how these assets can enable sustainable community revitalisation efforts.
