Our Surviving Winter Funding Round will be open for applications from 28th September until 29th October.
Grant Size: up to £2,500
With the cost of living crisis continuing to put pressure on charities, we recognise that organisations need more support than ever before to manage rising costs and keep vital services running through the colder months.
Funding in this round can only be used to support energy costs, helping organisations stay open and serve their communities throughout winter.
Priority will be given to organisations supporting the most vulnerable members of our community, including:
- Babies, children and young people
- Older people
- People with disabilities
- Individuals with life-limiting illnesses
Organisations must have an annual income of under £250,000 to be eligible for this round.
If you already in receipt of a BCF grant, you can still apply.
Allocation Priorities
When reviewing applications, the following will be taken into consideration:
- Whether the organisation supports vulnerable or high-risk groups
- The financial impact of rising energy costs on service delivery
- Evidence that funding will enable services to remain open
- Any outstanding monitoring or reporting requirements
You are not eligible to apply if:
- Your organisation has an annual income over £250,000
- You are applying for costs other than energy bills
- You are seeking retrospective funding (costs already incurred before the funding period)
- You are applying as an individual
The Application Process
- Applications are open from 28th September. Fill in the eligibility quiz at the bottom of this page. Once the quiz is filled in, if you meet the criteria of the fund you will receive a link to the application form.
- Grants up to a maximum of £2,500 will be considered, subject to funding availability
- Your application form must be completed on-line and submitted by 29th October, along with governing documents, including your organisation’s constitution , latest annual accounts, bank statement, safeguarding policy and equality and diversity policies.
- If you have not been funded by BCF before, we strongly suggest that you also submit a letter of recommendation that validates your work or performance. This could come from an organisation you have worked closely with e.g. your local centre for voluntary service, your local authority, a beneficiary or your service or a fellow charity.
- Applicants will be informed of the Grants Committee’s decisions in December.
- Please note that Berkshire Community Foundation received many more applications than we have available funding for, and we cannot guarantee the success of any application.
- We will not consider applications without the required supporting information submitted by the closing date.
