The Get Berkshire Active School Games gives children from across Berkshire a chance to try out 10 different sports which appeal to all ages and abilities. Children could participate in both competitive and non-competitive sports with the aim to get them interested in new sports and encourage healthy lifestyles.
Get Berkshire Active is the County Sports Partnership for Berkshire which promotes the benefits of exercise for all age groups and ability. A key focus for Get Berkshire Active is childhood inactivity. NHS guidelines recommend 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day and minimal sitting for children to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Most children do not reach this target which increases the likelihood of obesity and even mental health problems due to inactivity.
