Since 2003 Me2 Club has enabled children and young people, with wide ranging additional needs and disabilities, to access mainstream leisure activities. To do this they recruit and train volunteers who are then carefully matched to those requiring this 1:1 support.

Last year 116 volunteers supported 92 children to take part in activities they would not otherwise have been able to access. This year Me2 Club has been awarded a Berkshire Community Foundation grant of £1,066 to fund a ‘Day Away’ to the Cotswold Wildlife Park.

It’s good practice for me to trust other people to care for her and know she will be fine”. (Me2 Club parent)

Plus, a grant of £4,390, from the Youth Social Action Fund (managed by Berkshire Community Foundation), to fund the recruitment, training and support of 10 new volunteers.

“Without them we wouldn’t be able to accommodate girls with additional needs. The volunteer support is very valuable – we can see how parents appreciate what their daughters get out of going to guides.” (Activity Leader)

In addition to their core work Me2 Club also runs residential ‘Weekends Away’ and Inclusion Training for local Activity Leaders.

The generosity of Berkshire Community Foundation has been invaluable and we look forward to continuing our work together in creating a more inclusive community for all.
