Berkshire Community Foundation’s (BCF) Celebrating Impact: Showcase Event held at Ascot Racecourse was a wonderful evening, recapping the great year BCF has had and highlighting the Impact six groups in particular have made in the community.
Over 80 guests were welcomed and treated to a range of delicious canapes. Once seated, guests were welcomed by Ady and Chris Dodson OBE DL, Chair of Trustees at BCF, and shown a video of the highlights BCF have had over the year.
Six groups were selected for the awards, those in particular who have made an impression in the community helping individuals that are in need or disadvantaged. To name a few awards, there was ‘The Content Guru BPC Sponsor Award’ and ‘The David Brownlow Charitable Foundation Sponsor Award’. All the groups received a grant from BCF from different funding streams, depending on the disadvantage they are tackling. The 5 funding streams were Together for Women, Surviving Winter, Vital for Berkshire, Mock Trials Fund and Give a Child a Chance (GACAC). For example, Surviving Winter is targeted at those who have to choose between food, heating or buying a coat for their child. CCB received a grant from Surviving Winter because they help individuals to reduce their energy bills, when they are struggling.
The six groups; Aik Saath, Building for the Future, Mustard Tree, Parents and Children Together, Connecting Communities in Berkshire and Mock Trials were then individually presented with certificates. Those presenting included Lady Catherine Stevenson DL, who presented the Mary Bayliss Award, named in Mary Bayliss’ honour, since her sudden passing a couple of months ago. Mary Bayliss CVO JP was a long standing supporter and president of BCF president, former Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff of Berkshire. Also presenting were Nick Smith and Jacqui Greet from Ascot Racecourse, and Jayne Morris from Huntswood. The evening was wrapped up with a summary by Ady and closing words by Chris. Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
“I was delighted to welcome over 80 of BCF’s biggest supporters to our Showcase Event. It was a fantastic event celebrating all the wonderful impact that had been made, held at a beautiful location.”
