The Lexicon Charity fund

BCF is delighted to administer The Lexicon Charity Fund on behalf of The Lexicon Bracknell, supporting general charitable purposes within the geographical area of Bracknell Forest.

The Lexicon Charity Fund is now open for applications, from Monday 9th May 2022 until 10am on Thursday 16th June 2022.

To mark The Lexicon’s fifth birthday in September 2022, this round of funding will include grant awards of up to £5,000 each for five successful applicants.

ELIGIBILITY

Charitable causes and community groups (including school PTAs) that are based in and working in Bracknell Forest are invited to apply. The project or activity should benefit local residents, reflect the concerns and priorities of the target beneficiaries and fit well with existing services and activities in the local community.

Past examples of grants awarded from The Lexicon Charity Fund include: 

  • Supporting the provision of a freephone helpline for those experiencing homelessness;
  • The purchase of a pocket defibrillator to aid search and rescue missions;
  • A pond regeneration project for a local school PTA;
  • Creation of a quiet garden space for a local school.

The Application Process

  • Applications are open from 9th May 2022. Fill in the Eligibility Quiz at the bottom of this page. Once the Quiz is filled in, if you meet the criteria of the fund you will receive a link to the Application Form.
  • Grants up to a maximum of £5,000 will be considered, subject to funding availability.
  • Your application form must be completed on-line and submitted by 10am on Thursday 16th June 2022, along with governing documents, including your organisation’s Constitution, latest Annual Accounts, Bank Statement, Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity Policies.
  • If you have not been funded by BCF before, we strongly suggest that you also submit a Letter of Recommendation that validates your work or performance. This could be from an organisation you have worked closely with, e.g. your local Centre for Voluntary Services, your Local Authority, a beneficiary of your service or a fellow charity.
  • Applicants will be informed of the Grants Committee’s decisions by the end of September 2022.
  • Please note that Berkshire Community Foundation receives many more applications than we have available funding for, and we cannot guarantee the success of any application.
  • We will not consider applications without the required supporting information submitted by the closing date.

Please Note

Your group is not eligible to apply if:

  • It’s a national charity – unless it has a local branch in Berkshire, and has a separate management committee, bank account and its own governing documents.
  • You plan to use the grant for medical research.
  • You are intending to use the funding for the conservation of plants or animal welfare.
