SURVIVING WINTER APPEAL

We’ve launched our Surviving Winter Appeal, aimed at supporting charities and local voluntary groups experiencing financial hardship in uncertain and worrying times.

This winter with the cost of living continuing to impact many vulnerable people across Berkshire, there will be many adversely affected by increasing fuel costs and rising cost of living. The choice of heating or eating for older people, people with disabilities, people with life-limiting conditions and low-income families will be more prevalent than ever.

As a result, people will rely more than ever on the services of local charities and voluntary groups for their health and well- being. However, these organisations are facing the prospect of not being able to continue their work because of mounting costs and this will mean they will be unable to support those most in need at a time when they really will need it most.

Realities of Winter for Charities in England

24%
of charities in the UK are planning to reduce the volume or variety of services they offer this winter to cope.
27%
of charities predict they will be unable to meet the level of demand this winter.
85%
of charities believe this winter will be as tough, or even tougher, than last winter
