BCF to uncover emerging local needs in first community hub event of the year

22 January 2021 – On Wednesday 27th January, Berkshire Community Foundation will host its first Community Focus event of the year.

The online event will bring together representatives from community and volunteer hubs across all the six local authority areas in Berkshire – including Slough CVS; Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead (WAM) Get Involved; Involve – Bracknell and Wokingham; Reading Voluntary Action; and Volunteer Centre West Berkshire.

Together, the group will receive an update on BCF’s support for the voluntary sector, as well as findings from the Vital Signs report. BCF will also gather valuable input and feedback from the community hubs, particularly on key issues and local needs that are emerging from this stage of the COVID-19 crisis.

Mary Riall, High Sheriff of Berkshire, will attend the event to share her thoughts and give an update on the upcoming High Sheriff Awards.

Anita Herbert, Community Impact Manager at BCF, said: “Due to the ongoing lockdown, opportunities to touch base and connect with one another are few and far between, but the vital work to support communities in Berkshire does not – and must not – stop. This is a rare chance to bring together people from across the county, and we’re looking forward to identifying the main challenges faced in different local authority areas, and adapting our support to better meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
