We can help you establish a legacy of giving beyond your lifetime, helping you decide how you want to be remembered and the impact you will make.
Leaving a gift in your will is a wonderful way of supporting local communities for generations to come. Berkshire Community Foundation offers an ideal way to leave a legacy efficiently and easily, with a number of options available to ensure that your legacy achieves exactly what you want it to.
Making or updating your Will does not have to be expensive or complicated. However, we strongly recommend that you seek legal advice about drafting and the correct execution of a Will or codicil.
Why leaving a legacy is so beneficial
Your gift will keep on giving, permanently generating income to benefit local people.
A “Named Gift” will ensure your name will live on.
You can decide whether to leave a legacy to support a particular cause or area, or provide us with the flexibility to support a variety of important causes and to respond to changing needs in the future.
As a charity, legacies left to the Foundation are exempt from inheritance tax and could help reduce the total amount of tax paid on your estate, maximising what is available for your heirs. We can also accept gifts in cash, shares, land, property or other assets which can also be made tax efficiently.
Pat’s Lasting Memories Fund is an example of successful legacy giving.
